The Sea of Glass
The Sea of Glass is a vast desert that lies over the mountains south of Willowmaid. Its name comes from the large sheets of dark glass that frequently form on the sands’ surface in the hottest months. Although there are some tribes of nomads that dwell there, the great heat that boils up from beneath the surface ensures that the Sea of Glass is mostly devoid of civilized life. The wildlife, however, is both abundant and mysterious. The most notable of the creatures that dwell in the Sea of Glass is the sandblaster beetle, though there are plenty of other strange beasts that roam the dunes.
Even more notable than the creatures that live there are the creatures whose bones lie buried beneath the sand: The Stone Titans, a mysterious race of gigantic humanoids. Only their burried skeletons — charred black in the heat and solid as steel — remain as a testament to the Titans existance. Nothing is known about the Titans. They left behind no buildings, tools or clothing. However, it is said that long ago, when the High Elves came to the Mahogany Coast, the Sea of Glass was an enormous city, built by the Stone Titans in an age long gone. The Titans did not appreciate the arrival of the High Elves, and they waged a terrible war against the noble elves. For a while, it seemed that the Titans would certainly destroy the High Elves, but in desperation the elves gathered their greatest magicians and conjured a colossal firestorm that burned down the Titans and their city, leaving nothing but sand and bones.
